MONROE TOWNSHIP - ELLEN (WEINGART) KNAUER died on Friday, October 26, 2018, at home.
Born in Manhattan, NY to Lillian and Herman Weingart, she grew up in Brooklyn, where she met her beloved husband Bernie. They were married for 63 wonderful years before Bernie's death in 2010. They lived most of their lives and raised their children in Queens, NY, until moving to Clearbrook in Monroe Township in 1988.
Ellen is remembered for her sharp analytical mind, her keen sense of humor and many devoted friendships.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Bernie, in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Almquist (Peter), of Fairfax, VA; her son Todd Knauer (Elise), of Long Island, NY; her two grandchildren, Matthew Knauer (Molly) of New York City, NY and Andrew Knauer (Ali), her great-grandchildren Zoe Paige, and Jake Benjamin of New York City, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Weingart of New York City, NY and her niece Dawn Luks (Ron) of Jupiter, FL.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29th, 11:15 AM, at MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, NY 11003.

Please accept our sincerest condolences to the entire family for the loss of Ellen Knauer. It is always so very sad to lose someone you love and no preparation can really make you ready to accept the loss. However, there is comfort that she left behind a beautiful family and lived a long and fulfilling life. On a personal level, we want to thank Ellen for giving us our wonderful friend, Karen.
