MONROE TOWNSHIP - ZELDA RUCHOWITZ passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the Cranbury Center, Monroe Township. She was 95.
Born in Bronx, NY, she resided in Union before relocating to Monroe Township about 40 years ago. She was a long-time resident in the Clearbrook Community.
Prior to retiring in1974, she taught elementary education in the Newark for many years. Zelda received her Master's Degree in Education from New Jersey State Teacher's College, which is now known as Kean University.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel in 2010, and her step-daughter Sheila Cohen in 2010. Surviving are step- children Barry Ruchowitz of Florida; Brenda Strauss of Monroe Township; her niece, Rabbi Ilene Bogosian (George) of Watertown, MA; her nephew Steven Lerner of Hendersonville, NC; her grandchildren Michael Strauss (Robyn), David Strauss (Michele), Suzanne Staffa (David), Daniel Cohen (Andrea), Jonathan Cohen (Leslie) and Jeanette Makuch (George),twelve great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 1:45pm, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick. For Directions, please visit the "Services" page. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
