PARLIN - ALAN SHAPIRO passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 54.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he grew up in Randallstown, MD, and lived in Bridgewater before moving to Parlin 5 years ago.
A graduate of Kean University, Al received his Bachelors and MBA in accounting. He was employed as an Accountant for Arteric Web Design in Summit. Alan was a loving father; never missing a lacrosse game or play date with his daughter. His other love was poker, where he was quite the shark! Al was instrumental in the success of World Tavern Poker, where he served as Tournament Director. He was also able to meet the love of his life, Arianne there.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Arianne; son, Michael of Elizabeth; daughter, Rachel, of Parlin; father, Sam and his wife Clorinda of Hackettstown; mother Marsha Miller of Pikeville, MD; and brother, Jason of Springfield.
Due to Covid-19, and for everyone's safety the family will be having a private graveside service, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS. A celebration of Alan's life will be held at a later date. To leave a message of condolence, please visit our "Tributes" page.

My deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brother. Taken way too soon. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
Sincere condolences to all the family, surround yourselves with all that gives you comfort and love. Al was a Fierce Poker Player. He was one of the first people I met playing poker. At one game he was at the poker table, I was in a hand and I said I needed a second. I heard a voice say, second I looked over, it was Al, I laughed and he smiled, one of many poker memories. I know you're at the that heavenly poker table (end seat) :) with a good view and a good hand.
Al was such a great guy. I always looked forward to any time he was in town. It was always a celebration. My heart breaks for Arianne, Rachel and the entire Shapiro family. You are all in our prayers.
