Marlboro- Alice Helrich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her residence.
Alice was born in Philadelphia, PA but moved to Atlantic City as a child where she lived and met her future husband Kenneth. They raised their family in Somerset and North Brunswick before moving to Marlboro in their retirement years. Alice, while raising her children, Marsha, David and Howard, went back to school at night and on weekends and earned her B.A. degree (with honors) from Rutgers University. She then went on to spend 15 years on the Rutgers faculty doing social science research on alcoholism. Alice then went back to school and earned a Masters in Library Science.
She was hired by AT&T as a reference librarian where she worked until her retirement.
Staying busy after retirement, Alice and Ken traveled the world between doting on their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Always striving to make the world a better place, Alice also volunteered for organizations such as "Meals on Wheels."
Surviving are her daughter, Marsha Schwartz of Marlboro, her son David Helrich of Long Branch, and her son Howard Helrich and his wife Robin of Hopkinton, NH and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 11:45 AM in MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Cranbury Road at Evergreen Blvd. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. For directions, please visit our services page.

I truly enjoyed being around Alice and her family and getting to know everyone. She was an intelligent,passionate and amazing woman! We will truly miss her. I am sorry for your loss to the family of Alice.
