VOORHEES - CLAIRE R. HIRSHMAN passed away on Wednesday, March 15,2023, at Voorhees Senior Living in Voorhees. She was five days shy of her 100th birthday.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Max and Rebecca (née Stern) Silverman, she resided in Brooklyn, NY before settling down in NJ for the past 48 years.

Prior to retiring in 1970, she was a secretary to the director of the League School for Emotionally Disabled Children in Brooklyn, NY, where she worked for 7 years.

She was a member of B'nai Tikvah Congregation, where she was the chair of the Senior Club and catered many social functions.

In her leisure time, Claire enjoyed doing collages with wild flowers, as well as baking. Her many cookie recipes have appeared in respected baking magazines and Jewish cookbooks.

Claire was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Isidore Hirshman, in 1998, and her sister Ellen Greenfield, in 2018.

Surviving are her daughters, Paula Richman of Voorhees, and Cheryl Hirshman of Somerville, Massachusetts; her sister, Rhoda Dreitzer of Beverly Hills, CA; her grandchildren, Amy, Stacey, Joshua, Caleb and Marlie; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Rebecca, Dylan, Rachel, Chloe and Jake.

A chapel service will be held on Sunday March 19, 2023, at 9:45 AM, at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Saddle Brook. For directions, please visit our "services" page.
